Location: Krolaken's Fortress, Breeze, Sinis Jan 5, 7000 3:25 pm, Sinis time
Krolaken is angry. Which is a normal state for him, so this is really just a general displeasure compared to what the equivalent of angry is for him. It took four whole days for word to reach him about the portal. Four whole days. They'd known about its existence, of course. He growls under his breath, as he storms down the hall. He has called a meeting with Savic. Or rather, Savic has shown up and they are meeting. It's hard to tell which way it is to the casual observer. The past several hundred years haven't been good at all for The Chosen's ranks. Losing Trisk to her stupid fancies. Eedres to that damned upstart. Screw Eedres though. He lost Efret to that demon lady. That's not going to be forgiven. He'll rip her to shreds personally for that one. On the other hand, there was the recent discover of the existence of an entire city... underneath Freeze. Way more advanced than the rest of the area, especially when it came to weapons and armor... A tough nut to crack. He needs to find a way to get in there himself. He pushes the door open and sweeps into the room with Savic, his boots thumping heavily on the stone floors.

Savic sits relaxedly in a chair, holding their shades in their hand, tapping to a table next to them with the end piece of the shade's rim. They ildy scratch their chin as they wait for Lord Krolaken to arrive. Guess it's a meeting, a meeting of two. Wonder what's the topic this time around. Maybe its about the recent news that piqued their interest too.
As Krolaken enters, Savis turns their eyes at the door. "G'day," they greet their leader.

A short, low growl is Krolaken's only response, as he sits down in a large, comfortable chair, he peers across at Savic. He doesn't trust the little weasel at all, but then, he hasn't trusted hardly anyone since the war. And did he really trust then? He's not so sure. "So. The portal to Terra was a success, and they are invading the Terran continent through it." He stares across, before licking his lips. "And then the tree..." The damned tree. He blames them for a lot of deaths. He's convinced they didn't just cause Trisk's, but also were indirectly responsible for Efret. Certainly for the random disappearing acts. "The tree...what make you of what they will do from all this?"

Savic shrugs. "That tree is just as much of an enigma to me as it is to you," they say with a bit tired voice. The Yggdrasil has long interested Savic, but they haven't been able to get much information about the roots the tree. Lysander Morgenlied, they think, I want to know what kind of person you are. It's nigh impossible tell what kind of strategy they have without having a good read on his personality. "The word on what's going down there in the Earthern Novem hasn't reached me, if there's even anything to tell. I'd figure there's a lot of power play going on. Anyhow," they stop to dig their pocket for a few peanuts. They throw them into their mouth. "Azandra is taking a huge risk. She's vulnerable, and probably leaking information like a sieve. They're gonna make use of that."

"Tempting..." He muses...they could take advantage of the tree itself for redirecting its resources like that... it's tempting to attack them while they're distracted with the distracted. But no...if anything... "We'll be able to use this to gain control of Azandra's resources."

Savic frowns a bit. "Taking over her resources means invasion. Invasion needs an invasion force." They tap the table with their chubby fingers. "Is your idea to gather the Chosen to an army?"

Krolaken slows down his thoughts... "To an army...means we concentrate our forces. Leaving areas vulnerable for attack. No. We will assassinate, and use subterfuge as our weapon. We will bribe our way through this." He looks at Savic quietly. The brat has money. A lot of it. And while Krolaken has a lot of that too, he'd much rather use Savic's.

"Bribe out way through to what? Will we buy our road to Pax? What is your target? Money can only take us only so far," Savic says, knowing what they talk about. The sum of money they'd need to gain influence in a single city would be a lot. And some people just can't be bribed. It will be hard to get much foothold. They need to find a weak spot.

"No." Krolaken scowls. Buy a city? No. "We will buy our way to the throne. Prevent people from stopping us from eliminating the princess." he spits out the last word almost. "We will take the entire earthsunside."

"Road to Paz, way to the throne, same thing," Savic utters and waves their hand in the air. "Without an army that's going to be one heck of a difficult task to do. Akra has some of her largest cities."

They can't be serious, he thinks. This is easier than he's making it out to be. "We only need to access certain leaders to make our move. Not entire cities."

"Cities mean wealth we need to outmatch. If we can't show a proof of that we can offer them more than Azandra does, we have no hope of getting them to our side," Savic stops. No, it's a wrong approach. "I suggest we," he reaches for a few more nuts and shoves them into his mouth, "we prove them Azandra is weak somehow."

Krolaken scowls, and twists the- no that's right. That's still gone. Lost in the war. But proving her weakness... "She's sloppy. Look at Pax. She didn't kill them all properly." Actually...what poetic justice. Get his revenge through her. He should have them reach out. Get her out of that accursed city for now. "She's spreading her forces like butter on..." an unusually large piece of toast? What do you spread butter on until it doesn't exist anymore?

"Foolish decision, that's right. The lass doesn't know what she's doing." Truly, she has no clue what she's doing. Does she even remember she has still enemies? "She has the portal. What else? If that fails, she'll have nothing. If we sabotage that project of hers, it'll all fizzle out. We can turn her supporters against her and the throne will good as nothing. We win." Yet, in every plan here, Savis sees a one but. Would she really be foolish enough to leave her whole realm so unguarded? Or is she hiding something? Could this all be a bluff?

Krolaken considers this for a moment. Then he looks at Savic. "Do you know where any of the informants for the Tree can be found?" If he's right...he can use the tree for once. Get them to do work for him instead.

"A few places," Savic says nonchalantly. It's not hard to find Ravens, if someone bothers to keep an eye. Money also makes tracking them a lot easier. People seem to remember things a lot better when they have cash in their hand. "Why do you ask? Didya get an idea?"

"We don't need to touch the portal...if they do for us. It doesn't have to be taken down permanently until we have control of..." Island...What's it called... "Akra. Why not use them? Form a temporary alliance."

Savic shrugs. "Ain't that a good choice. I wonder... what would they want from an allience with us?" Savic sighs. This means more meetings doesn't it. Savic would rather spend time rolling the dice than doing these meetings. Still, isn't this a kind of gamble too? Maybe their interest will grow.

"They want Azandra out. One less enemy to watch." He looks up, and grins toothily, and opens his hands out. "And then, who knows? We might want that portal ourselves instead."

Savic nods in agreement. "That portal has been in my mind too. Terra seems like an interesting opportunity..." They go silent for a moment, thinking of Terra. They've never seen it, but can imagine there must be riches for the fastest taker... or the smartest. "Ah, yes. We need to arrange a meeting with the Ravens."
