Location: The Docks, Oscura, Sinis
January 8, 7000 AGW
6:00 am Sinis time
The boat ride between Pax and Oscura was a fairly short trip, but it still took the rest of the night. Fortunately, it was a comfortable ship for its size (and being built for speed), allowing Fenrir and Abbyline to rest. The Raven had paid for their transport in advance, so as soon as they arrived they were free to debark, and the ship took off again to return to Pax. Following her perfect internal map, she finds the Yggdrasil safehouse, as well as the Raven within, who was just waking up for the day and checking incoming messages. Lacking network access in a small town like that, information tended to come from Earthsea or, in rare cases, from the docks. This was one of those times, and though there is nothing new that Fenrir didn't already know, the Raven is grateful for what Fenrir is able to provide, and synchs the data between their tablets. "We should eat before we depart for our next destination," Fenrir states to Abbyline, "but if you require it this safehouse has facilities with which you can refresh yourself, if you require such."

"What is our next destination, exactly?" Abbyline asks.

"In the short term, food and supplies. For the long, it depends on where you believe that your journey needs to take you." She pulls a very detailed map out of her backpack and spreads it on the table.

"Earthsea," is Abbyline's immediate answer. Then, "and wherever Uelricost, Lizeny, and Vizal are. Do you know where?" She comes over to look at the map.

Once again Fenrir accesses her mental file cabinet.     "As of our reports from yesterday, Uelricost is at the portal, and Lizeny and Vizal have already passed through.  We can be in Earthsea by evening if we charter another swift boat."     She addresses the Raven, who has been awaiting orders.     "Make that happen, and we shall depart in two hours.  Send word ahead to Earthsea of our arrival, and have transportation prepared for us to go to the portal as soon as we have concluded our business there."     He nods and leaves at a brisk trot to take care of his errands, and Fenrir moves to the kitchen to prepare a pot of tea.     "It won't be luxurious, but you are free to eat whatever is in the pantry and fridge.  Were we less pressed for time I'd prefer something more substantial, but for now, we must take what we can get."

Abbyline nods, already thinking over what she'll say to Baalhazzar. Has he already heard of her escape from Azandra? She might be in danger, meeting him then. What should she tell him? As close to the truth as possible. "Azandra is... destroying herself." she mutters. "With half her forces passed through the portal- How many of Her Warriors have gone through the portal, exactly? Do you have an estimate? - she's too weak to survive. How many people do you have here, in Earthsea? How many does he have? Is that enough to defend against Krolaken?"

Listening quietly as she prepares a bit of toast and jam for herself, Fenrir types out a swift message on her tablet. "We shall find out. The Raven will send a request to Earthsea, who will relay the message to Yggdrasil. Once we arrive this afternoon we will have that information. Is there anything else that you feel that you need to know before we leave." She takes a bite of her toast, pouring two cups of tea with the other.

"Her methods of punishment are illogical, dangerous, and destructive to her cause and Warriors." She swallows, pacing back and forth. "For example, after hearing the name of her mother, Aevra, she became angry and took out her anger by hitting..." she tugs at her sleeve. Lynn might have seen the scratches on her arm while she was being outfitted. "...and scratching me. I know I did nothing to provoke her anger. This is most likely no isolated incident. If she doesn't stop doing things like this... she'll destroy her own warriors. Beat down their morale and injure them physically, leaving them weak and incapable of defending effectively." She pauses to take a breath and reorder her thoughts.

Fenrir chews her toast silently (no mean feat, that), and makes mental notes as Abbyline speaks, comparing it against existing ones, and filing it all away for later. She nods; a short, quick gesture, to indicate that she is paying attention and that Abby is free to continue as she feels necessary.

Abbyline sighs. What next? What other arguments might Baalhazzar make? What other examples can she counter him with? "Do you know any other examples of Azandra's irrationality? Proofs that Her Warriors are doomed if nothing changes? ...So you have three choices: stay with Azandra and doom yourself to destruction, succeed in convincing Azandra to change her ways, or simply remove her from the equation. I know you're a strong leader, but if you keep following Azandra, your death or defeat is assured. ...If you decide to join me, we will become strong together. We will not be defeated again. We will unite Sinis, and in the future, potentially even Terra, under our banner. The banner of strength, of freedom, of unity." Some of the things she's saying are likely unsettling to Lynn... it's not clear whether she means them or not.

Fenrir brushes the crumbs off of her fingers into the sink and picks up the tea with both hands. The child is logical and thoughtful. She has a plan of action, knows of the way that her targets think, act, and react, and has multiple plans that she can enact depending on how the situation plays out. Good. Lys will be devastated if it comes down to killing Azandra, but Fenrir is aware of the fact that deep down he knew what would happen when he sent her off that day. She knows that he'll blame himself and not her or Abbyline if it happens, and she will have to speak with Xander at length to find a way to assuage the guilt that he does not need to carry. "For the greater good" is a dangerous motivation, but he always did desire peace in Sinis, and he now has the power and tools with which to make it happen. She will make it happen.

Abbyline is finished muttering to herself, finally. She turns to Fenrir and flashes a grin. "Now for breakfast." She sees the tea that Fenrir's poured, and reaches for it. "May I?" Her mouth is dry after the extended period of talking.

Handing over the other cup of tea, which is now cool enough to drink quickly, Fenrir opens the fridge, pulls out some sort of meat out of a container (it looks cooked...), sniffs it, and takes a large bite. "The jam is good," she remarks, pouring herself another cup, "take what you like, we have an hour or so to eat."

"Thank you." Abbyline bobs her head in thanks, then takes a sip of the tea, and goes to fix herself some jam and toast.

The Raven returns in a half an hour, slightly out of breath, as he has been running the entire time. "You've got the fastest boat here ready to go as soon as you are. Word has been sent ahead to Earthsea, they'll be expecting you and will be ready to provide you with what you need." "Thank you. We shall depart presently." Fenrir turns to Abbyline. "If you have nothing else to do then we can leave now, and arrive by early afternoon."

Abbyline thinks for a moment... no, to go now is best. She nods. "We can leave now." Better sooner than later. She's excited, and that excitement is drying her throat and unsettling her stomach.

The other Raven barges in, eyes wide and panting for breath, waving a tablet. Fenrir extends a hand to take it, reads the message, and her eyebrows go up a little. Anyone who knows her well knows that this would be a gasp of shock to anyone else. She reads it again for clarity, and the corners of her mouth tighten. "It seems that we are the vanguard of the battle to come. Azandra commanded the Paxian contact for the Ravens to kill himself, most unpleasantly, and in doing so sent a message to Yggdrasil. Odin is..." She doesn't finish the sentence and the corners of her mouth tighten again. "He has declared all-out war upon Azandra and her army. We are to continue our mission as we see fit. AllSong guide us, this is extremely bad. I must get a private message to Loki as swiftly as I can. Also, I require your red pack," she remarks, typing out a missive and handing it to the Raven she just addressed, who will take it to the courier that will relay it to Earthsea, and into the network. She trades the small pack with red needles for the tablet and runs out again. Fixing Abby with a fierce, gold stare, she puts the packet in her hand. "Odin has authorized all Yggdrasil units the use of these. As you are under my authority, you are likewise granted their use. Practice with the other needles, for there is no cure for what these are tipped with, and I know of only two people who could survive their use." Standing back, she rolls a shoulder, loosening a tense muscle with a loud pop. "Before we depart there is one final lesson for you to learn. You contain your emotions well, I applaud you. But you have only suppressed them, not mastered them. If you do not learn to control them yourself they will either rule you in the future or snap back and cause you suffering when you can least afford it. I am not so different; though I do not often feel emotions in this form, I am capable of it. But in my other form, I am powered by them. Rage is my constant companion when shifted, but I have learned to channel it, to run with me and smite my foes. You may want or need to borrow this form some day, and when you do you must know what to expect, to know yourself and all of which you are capable. Do not fear what you are about to become. Embrace it, respect it. Find the primal soul sleeping deep within you and guide it to the light, hand in hand. Know now why I am called Fenrir, the Wolf of Yggdrasil." Closing her eyes, she inhales deeply, then transforms. Her entire form begins to shift and ripple, as her clothes and gear disappear into an Aura-pocket, as they will not be needed. Her hands and feet become massive paws, her face extends into a fierce muzzle from which enormous teeth grow, her ears simultaneously grow into and out of her head as they shift positions, a thick, bushy tail grows out, and she is covered in shaggy, dark-gray fur the color of her hair. She is of a stocky build normally, but in this form, she is heavily muscled for power yet somehow sleek enough for speed. Shaking herself off, her gold, almost feral eyes lock with Abby's, as she stands tall enough to do so.

Abbyline watches in stunned silence. War on Azandra. What has she started? No, she'd meant to take her down, but not so... directly. Not yet. She'd expected Azandra not to snap just yet, but she is fueled by bloodlust, after all. Abbyline knows that all too well. She should've known her escape would cause this. What is Azandra doing now? Has she mobilized the remnants of her army? Will Abby and Fenrir walk straight into a trap?
She slowly, carefully replaces her original needle pack with the red one. "I wouldn't do this now." Her fear, she knows, will bubble to the surface, along with anger. No, she's much more comfortable wearing the mask she possesses now. "I have no need of your other form, Fenrir. And you say I suppress my emotions." Was that an edge of anger in her voice? "No. I control them, and use them as I see fit." This feigned arrogance, she thinks, is necessary to convince the Wolf. It hides her fear. "I appreciate the responsibility you've given me, but you underestimate me."

Fenrir's lips pull back in a strange, lupine smile as she huffs a "whuff" of laughter, the most emotion that Abby has seen from her yet. Once again her shape ripples and changes, pulling in and up as she becomes smaller and more lithe, her clothes and armor reappearing from the Aura-pocket into which they had disappeared. Checking herself as always after a transformation, she picks up her bag by a strap and slings it over one shoulder. "Very well. I trust you to know yourself, you are not a child. My mission is simply to keep you alive and return you to your home, wherever you decide that that is. It is time that we departed for Earthsea. Prepare to travel swiftly, wolf pup, our enemies now move with speed, but they do not yet know of our intentions. We have surprise on our side, and we can make excellent tactical use of that."
